Exercise💪🏻

I have always been a big fan of moving my body. At first it started because I wanted to lose weight and stay in shape and it has evolved into a form of mental health for me. I truly enjoy moving my body. If I miss a day, I notice. I’m much more irritable and feel like I missed a big part of my day. It has become an important routine. I have changed my work outs over the past few months (more on that later)- I consider myself a runner. I ran one marathon in 2022 and 2 half marathons. Looking back, I can’t believe it did it! The training was crazy and I loved it.

I don't think I could smile any bigger in this photo- LOL. It felt so good to cross that finish line! My sister ran with me- she decided one week before the marathon to sign up (she did train but wasn't committing to running the actual marathon)- she killed it!

Here we are! I live in Rhode Island- the ocean state! The finish line was beautiful- right on Narragansett beach. I love that we can say we ran a marathon- I literally have always wanted to do one and one day just signed up and told people I was running a marathon. Now that I said it out loud, I had to do it. My training went really well until 2 weeks before the race. I had to run 18 miles and I did something to my back! I couldn't move without wincing. I did so much PT and - my knees and back were a mess. The PT didn't know if I would be able to run the race, but with lots of dry needling and a determined mindset, we crushed it! The only thing I would change about my training is I would have added in more weight training. I was so focused on getting in the miles, I lost sight of the importance of weight training. I will not run a marathon again - one and done but I could be convinced to do another half marathon!

Now I focus more on a balanced work-out routine throughout the week. I still love to run- outside and on the Peloton! I have the Peloton plus tread in my basement and I'm obsessed! I also love pilates and weight training. A typical week might look like:

Monday: Peloton tread boot camp (combo of running and weights) 30 minutes {go to instructor Jess Sims}

Tuesday: Peloton full body strength (heavy weights) 20-30 minutes {Jess Sims or Rebecca Kennedy}

Wednesday: Peloton endurance or interval run - 20-30 minutes {Robin Arzon or Jess Sims} followed by quick arms/abs

Thursday: Peloton hike book camp 20-45 minutes {Rebecca Kennedy} followed by quick arms/abs

Friday: I try to run outside, especially in this amazing New England fall weather- anywhere from 3-5 miles. Sometimes it is a run/walk.

Saturday/Sunday: One of these is typically a day off and one day is pilates (with Kristin McGee) or a long walk outside.

I also sprinkle in neighborhood walks here and there. I love to talk around my neighborhood- I can easily walk 2-4 miles listening to some of my favorite pod casts.

Today I did Peloton pilates (pic above) in the leggings I've been telling you about! They look just like lulus right?! These are the leggings I get on Amazon (I wore the dusty red to my son's game Friday night) - they are only $23! I'm wearing the charcoal grey in the picture above, size small. You won't regret it! Buttery soft, high waist that stays up, they wash/dry so well and don't fade!

It is so important to move your body, release those endorphins....and stretch, don't forget to stretch! I hope you all have a rejuvenating Sunday.

xo,

Stacey
